The organ in the Conference Center. The organ building company Ben worked for before we moved to Texas helped build the pipes in the Organ This organ was custom-built with 130 ranks of pipes, totaling 7,667 individual pipes.

On the roof of the Conference center there are amazing gardens and landscaping. When President Hinkley wanted to build the conference center he wanted the roof to resemble what the pioneers came across and saw the land for the first time. The trees are reminiscent of the mountains the pioneers came out of.
And the meadow is reminiscent of the pioneers coming out of the mountains and seeing the valley for the first time. This is what they saw. Minus the buildings and stiff in the back ground. The builders of the Conference Center said that President Hinckleys plans of the roof would not work. Pres Hinkley said do it and so they did. What an amazing site it has become. The depth of the soil is anywhere from 12 inches to about four feet deep. Most of the roots of the trees are 12 to 18 inches deep so there's not an awful lot of depth required for their growth. Its amazing!

Sounds like you have had a fun summer. What a great way to vacation. Lots of history in SLC. So glad you took advantage of it all. You gave me ideas to do with my grand kids! Thanks. What a cute family you have.
