Ice cream, friends and good times

For the Eplorer fest at the kids school they auctioned off ice cream with there teacher and a friend. Kaycee won the auction for the ice cream with her teacher and took her friend Bethany with her. They were able to go to Ben and Jerry's for there "date" Yummy!!! Look at the options for ice cream cones and toppings.
Kaycee and her teacher Mrs. Thompson. Look at the smile on Kaycee's face and the yummy ice cream. :)
I think Kaycee is enjoying the ice cream. What do you thing?

Kaycee and Bethany after they finished their ice cream. I think they liked it. Thank you Mrs. Thompson.

Maddy's new toy

For my baby shower for Maddy some of my friends got me an Exersaucer. While my mom was down this past week we put it together for Maddy.

Here is Maddy checking out the new toy.

I think she likes it!And why wouldn't she? Take a look at all the cool toys it has on it. This one is a reflection pool/ piano that plays music. Here we have some chew toys
This one is a flower garden. As you pull the flowers they play music.
This is another music toy. As you pull the bugs they play music. This part of the toy was the stage one part of it all. It hooked to some Lilly pad feet with a mat under it so Maddy could lay on her back and play with the toys.
She had so much fun playing it, it wore her right out. Too cute.

There is one last stage to this exersauser. When Maddy is old enough to start standing/walking you take the base off and it opens up to a standing table. Totally cool.

Sugery

As most of you know I had surgery to remove my gall bladder Wednesday April 1st. A few weeks ago I had some pretty good attacks. I went to the doctor about it and he sent me to get an ultra sound done. When I called the doctor back to get the results the nurse just gave me the number to the surgeon. So I guess it was pretty bad. Any way I have been living on a fat free diet for the past 3 weeks and hoping not to have another attack. I didn't. Thank heavens.

Any way Wednesday I went to Memorial Herman Surgical Center, Texas Medical Center up in down town Houston. I was asked to be there by 6:30 am. The surgery was scheduled for 8am.

All was going well until they put the IV in. It started stinging really bad and I got really light headed and passed out. I have never had problems with IV's or needles before. The last thing I remember the nurse saying was Dr. so and so I need you STAT. Then when I came to there were 3-4 people at my bed side and I had an oxygen mask on. When I woke up I was so disoriented that I keep riping off the oxygen mask so then they just got the tube of oxygen out and put it to my mouth, Finally I calmed down enough for then to put the oxygen. up my nose. Also while all this was happening Ben said my heart rate went down to 20. Not so good. Then after I came to and all was OK again I threw up. So when I went into surgery they also pumped out my stomach. NICE! So now I have 4 incisions instead of 3 like I was told I would have. :( O well right.

The surgery started about 8:30am and was done by 9:30am. But I didn't come out of the anistisa until about 1pm. So I got a nice nap out of all of that. :) After I came out of the anistisia I tried throwing up again. Of course to no prevail. Mt tummy was VERY empty. When the nurse, a big black man was trying to get me up to go to the bathroom I keep falling forwards and then back wards while sitting on the bed. Then when I finally got up to walk to the bathroom I felt like I was drunk. Not that I know how that feels, but I sure was walking funny.

Yesterday was a bit rough. My back and my ribs hurt from all the extra air they pumped in to me. The incisions don't really bother me its the extra air. My mom has been so good to rub my back, trying to get me to burp. It has helped a bit. I just want to get a pin and pop my self. :) I look 5 months prego. All in all everything is good and my mom is being a real big help. I cant lift anything heavy, vacuum or sweep and she has been really good to do the house work and help out with Maddy and the other kids. I am so glad I have a great mom that is willing to help out.

Today April 3rd I feel a little better. My incision where my belly button is hurts a bit. I think its manly because that's were you bend. Any way other then that I am doing real good. Bruised up a bot but doing good. I would have taken pictures and posted them but I figured I would keep my blog at a "G" rating. :) My tummy looks kinda nasty. Well not to bad but no one wants to see a bloated belly with black and blue marks on it.

Two of a kind

So the other day I was at the mall with my friend Jamie. Every time we are there we go into "The Childrens Place." We both love that store. Any way every time I have gone in there the past little while I have wanted to get these shirts but haven't. Well this last time I was in there I couldn't resist any longer. So I bought the shirts and the girls wore them to church today.

Kaycee
Maddy
They also have matching hair bows. Maddys was already made and then before church to day I quickly made one up for Kaycee.
Also a little side note, Kaycee wanted to wear her levi skirt and wanted Maddy to wear one as well. She asked if Maddy had a levi skirt and I said well kind of. The skirt Maddy has on in this picture is a 0-3 month. She is 5 1/2 months. O well right? It all worked out. :) Also I would really like to take the kids pictures with Kaycee and Maddy wearing these shirts. I have 1 main problem. One of my boys would need to wear hot pink to match. The white and black are no big deal but I think the hot pink idea is out. Any suggestions?

Bumbo seat

When my mom and sisters were down last mothers day my bought this bumbo chair for my sister Erin to feed her little guy in. When they left to go home they left it here for Maddy to use when she got big enough. I was only like 4 months along last May 2008. Any way now Maddy is big enough and she LOVES it.
She loves it so much that yesterday I found her asleep in it. To cute!

Chicken Tortilla soup

This is the best ever chicken tortilla soup ever. Even my kids were going in for seconds. YUMMY!!!

1 pkg boneless, skinless chicken breast cut up into bite size pieces
seasoning (I use Tony Chachere's or KPauls)
diced onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 bell pepper, diced
2 zucchini, chunked
juice from 1/2 lime
fresh cilantro
1 can roasted tomatoes (can use can Rotel, or just plain diced tomatoes)
sm bag frozen corn (or canned corn)
large box of chicken stock

Brown chicken with seasoning, add onions, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until vegetables are tender. Add can of tomatoes and lime juice, scrape bottom of pot to get all seasoning mixed in. Add zucchini and corn. Add chicken stock. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes. Add fresh cilantro.

To serve:Place crushed tortilla chips in bowl, top with soup. Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, avocado. Delicious!!

Houston Zoo

This week was Spring Break around here. The weather was beautiful on Friday so my friend Jennifer and I decided to take the kids to the zoo. I had just bought a year zoo pass the day before and so we all got in free. It was great. The only problem... was everyone else had the same idea. It was still fun.

Here are a few things we say and did at the zoo. I think the elephants were my favorite. Here is a momma elephant and her baby. They were so cute together
Every time I go to the zoo I have to get a picture of this animal. I don't remember the name of it but it is cool. Ok So I just found out what this animal is. Thanks Tuesdee, It is called an Okapi and is from Africa. It is part zebra, part giraffe and part horse.
Of course there is a long horn at the Houston Zoo.

This little sea otter was so fun this day. It was so active and was swimming every were. I loved it. Well so did the kids for that matter. It was hard to get then to move on to the next exhibit.

And guess what this is. If you guessed a dog then you are correct. Yes the Houston Zoo has a dog. Actually there were 2 dogs at this exhibit. Crazy I know.
Here is princess Maddy in her carriage. She was such a good baby. Look at the chub on her legs. Wow!And last but not least here is the crew of kids. Matthew down front, Cole (stroller) Bethany, Kaycee, Micheal and Christopher. These kids are such great friends and had a blast together. Thanks for going with us. Side note: James went to the movies with the Markwalters instead of going to the zoo.
